"NUTS & BOLTS"
1) HOW OFTEN WILL MY CHILD BRING ARTWORK HOME?
Your child will bring home artwork about4 times throughout the year in an oak-tag folder created for this purpose. The artwork will be accompanied by a newsletter, describing the art concepts and vocabulary which were the focus of the lessons.
Please empty and RETURN the folders each time, to be reused.
2) WHAT WILL MY CHILD LEARN IN ART?
Your child will have a wide range of art experiences over the two years he/she will be at Rowe School. These experiences will be tied to both Yarmouth's and the State's Learning Results. That sounds formidable, but rest assured that my main focus will be to be sure that art is FUN! We will be using a variety of media from pencil, to paint, to printmaking, to clay and paper sculpture to teach important basic art concepts. You can help reinforce the learning by going through your child's art folder with him/her when it is brought home periodically, and asking questions based on the information in the accompanying newsletter. The major content pieces will involve the art elements of color, shape, line, and texture.
3)WILL MY CHILD'S ARTWORK BE DISPLAYED?
Absolutely. Art displays will occur at various times and locations throughout the school year. Each school sends a few pieces to be displayed at various times at the Superintendent's office. If I hold on to a piece of your child's work for possible later use in a show, I will send home a note in the next art folder explaining its absence from the folder. And you WILL get it back. I will also, from time to time, hang Artwork up in the halls of Rowe School.
