Pinch Pots

The first graders used white clay to create their pinch pots and had the option to add clay to create a face or use tools to add a pattern. They used water color paints to finish the pinch pots with a colorful pattern.

Kindergarten classes used red clay to create their pinch pots and clay tools to add a pattern in the clay. They used white & black watercolors to paint on a pattern.

Painted Pumpkins

What's the first color that comes to mind when someone says Pumpkin? Orange and maybe green?
We used mixed watercolors in different shades of orange and green to paint in our pumpkins and oil pastels to color in our suns, moons, clouds and stars. Next week we will finish up the Pumpkins by painting in the Background.

Pumpkin Contour Line Drawings

Pumpkins Pumpkins everywhere!
We used our Artist eyes to really look at a Pumpkin and talked about what kind of Lines and Shapes we would use to draw them. We used pencils to draw the Outline & Contour lines of at least 3 pumpkins and added a Horizon line to ground them. We traced over the pencil lines with permanent marker so that the lines won't get lost next week when we add color to our pumpkins.

How do you know it is a pumpkin not an apple? Add Contour Lines.

Finished Creative Color Trees

We practiced mixing the Secondary colors to paint the leaves on our trees. We talked about how when the trees are full of leaves they look like a big bush of color but when the leaves start falling you can start to see individual leaves. They came out so bright and colorful here are a few finished by the kindergarteners.

Creative Color Trees

We started our Creative Color Trees this week by building up Color & Line to create Visual Texture with crayons. We looked at paintings of trees by Vincent Van Gogh and talked about the way he used his Brushstrokes to show Texture and Movement and how we can use the direction we color to show the Texture of our trees.
